Make a Difference

Can you make a difference?  Yes! A simple email, letter or phone call can effect change- and show your legislature that you support Artesia Main Street.  The 30 day New Mexico Legislative Session begins January 17th, which means that your elected officials will be in Santa Fe working for you.  If you don’t tell your elected officials what is important to your community, how will they create legislature that is valuable to you? 

Artesia Main Street is an important economic stimulus tool that is used every time a purchase is made is the Main Street District.  The money that is spent locally is eventually filtered back through the City of Artesia, back into the community, and used to make valuable changes.  By reminding your legislators that Artesia’s local economy is important to you, it will become important to your legislator.

Finding your legislator is easy, simply get in touch with the Eddy County Clerks office (575.887.9511), or the Artesia Chamber of Commerce (575.746.2744), or call Artesia MainStreet (575.746.1117) to receive contact info for your legislator.  A simple and straightforward call or email to your legislator makes a huge difference, and takes only a moment. Artesia MainStreet is proud to be working on a project that honors the finest of the few- our Veterans.  Out of great respect for the veterans and our county, Artesia MainStreet has teamed up with local veterans in creating a design that will enhance the current Baish Veterans Park (in front of current City Hall).  The park design includes the permanent installation of the Freedom’s Fire bronze statue, flag holders and a Wall of Honor displaying names of Veterans in our community- past and present.  This park is a place for remembrance, honor, reflection, and communicates that the community of Artesia cherishes the sacrifices and dedication to all veterans.

There is a need for personal and private investment to fully realize the dream of the park.  Citizens and groups have the opportunity to share in the commemoration of our veterans, and this park is a small way to give back and honor them.
